full spectrum doula support

What is a Full Spectrum Doula?

Miriam Zoila Perez offers some insight in their pamphlet The Radical Doula Guide,

“A full spectrum doula refers to a doula who provides support to people during the full spectrum of pregnancy – from birth to abortion to miscarriage to adoption.” And I would add, conception and contraception. No matter where you are on your reproductive & parenting journey, I'm here to support you! I am a ToLabor trained Professional Doula and have been supporting new parents in RVA since 2015.

As a birth doula, I accompany people in labor to help ensure a safe and satisfying birth experience. Within my scope of practice, I draw on my professional training, knowledge and experiences to provide physical, emotional and informational support prenatally, during labor and postpartum to pregnant people and partners. I can provide reassurance and perspective to you and your partner, make suggestions for labor progress and help with relaxation, massage, positioning, and other techniques for comfort. I work independently as a doula. As your doula, I am working for you, not your caregiver or the facility where you birth.

I offer two prenatal visits (plus some extra one-on-one time, phone calls, texts and emails), "on-call" support starting at 38 weeks, labor support and two postpartum visits; one visit the day after delivery and the second visit within the first two weeks after the birth with the choice of a postpartum massage in the comfort of your home. I also offer prenatal + postpartum massage (including Acupressure for Labor & Delivery and movement education to help with baby positioning) to Doula clients at a discounted rate. The total fee for my services is $1,200. I ask for a deposit of $600 non-refundable retainer fee (applied towards the total fee) as soon as you have chosen me as your doula and have signed my official contract. This secures your birth on my calendar. The remainder of the fee is due at the second postpartum visit.

I offer my support on a sliding scale if needed.

“I originally worked with Parker for massage therapy, incorporating her treatment for my endometriosis. Thrilled to report that because of the trusting relationship we built, she was actually my doula when I had my son a few months ago.
Parker is amazingly calm, patient and reassuring. Her energy was precisely what I needed to navigate labor. There are a million great things I could say about having her there, and I know my partner would echo them. Her energy helped me balance mine, she came with no judgment just love. I am so grateful we chose to work with her.
She approaches her work with empathy and immediately puts you at ease. She's beyond skilled and clearly very passionate about arvigo and the other therapies she offers and truly goes above and beyond for her patients. Working with her has been instrumental in my personal health journey and I am so grateful for her.” — Amy C.
